ALEXANDRA (ALI) SOMMER, LPCC

I am committed to supporting individuals, groups, clients of all ages, and members of the LGBTQ+ community as they navigate the challenges of grief, trauma, neurodivergence, and other mental health concerns. My approach is rooted in meeting clients where they are and helping them move toward the life they envision. My primary clinical focuses include grief, trauma, and neurodivergence, and I also have experience and training in addressing sexual concerns, identity exploration, and relationship issues. I work with a broad range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

As a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist (ASDCS), I have a deep appreciation for how neurodivergence shapes our experiences. I am also kink-informed and LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I approach therapy from a neuroscience-informed lens that values both emotional and physiological healing. I am continually open to expanding my knowledge and skill set to meet the evolving needs of my clients.

My ideal client is someone who is curious about the patterns in their life and ready to do the work of healing—someone seeking to understand their past, navigate the present, and build a more intentional future. I understand how difficult it can feel to be “stuck,” and I work collaboratively to help clients find the strength, clarity, and tools they need to move forward.

My counseling style is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and empathetic. I integrate Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, narrative techniques, and mindfulness-based approaches to create a tailored and eclectic therapeutic experience. I am also trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based modality for treating trauma.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology and an M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. I am a proud member of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
